Finding Good Bike Insurance

What people want out of a bike insurance policy, varies. If they never go abroad, they do not need insurance to cover them for that eventuality. Some want a high level of compensation to be paid to help them with physiotherapy in the case of an accident, others feel adequately covered for this eventuality by other insurance policies. The majority of riders are happy with the cheapest policy possible; they just want to be street legal.

Before searching for bike insurance, sit down and work out what it is you that you want from your policy. Type it out and save it onto your PC, so that you have all of your details easily to hand to copy and paste into e-mails when asking for quotes, you can also give it to an insurance broker. Include the make and engine size of your bike, its model, registration date, your address, name, DOB and riding history. In addition, note where your bike will be stored when it is not in use, the level of excess you will accept and any special items that you want to be covered by the policy.

Make sure that the policies you look at include roadside assistance along with cover for hotel costs should you become stranded far from home. If you plan to travel abroad, make sure that you are covered in the countries that you plan to travel through. Make sure that you have good coverage for injuries, if you have an accident when riding abroad having good medical expenses cover is essential.

Once you have some quotes and have checked that each policy includes what is needed, take the cheapest quote and use it to shop around. The insurance business is competitive and many insurance companies will drop their price to beat a competitor’s quote if asked to do so.

Before settling on a final policy, double check that it meets your criteria and read the policies terms and conditions in full. That way you can be 100% sure that you have a policy that really covers you in the way you need.
